Mandala

Children of all ages are encouraged to participate in the interdisciplinary ‘mandala’ design.  The children contribute to a group design focusing on symmetry and patterns which create extraordinary shapes.  After reflecting on the benefit of working together as a harmonious group children then have the choice of designing their own architectural mandala  or decorating an existing design.

MANDALA - TEAM WORK

Designing Kids

Every culture in the world uses the concept of design having a central point;  whether that be within their architectural designs, their analysis of nature's design and its perfection or the make up of man's spirit - the mandala is also an ancient Tibetan practice of working in harmony and reminding us that all things are temporary by constructing their mandalas with intricate, colourful sand patterns and then obsoleting them.

We introduce children to the mandala from a design perspective and ultimately revealing the practical applications, be that withing a mosaic floor design,  a repeated pattern for a skirt etc.  Keep watching this blog as this design principle develops with our young artists.

Join us at the Kids Marquee - Making Mandalas

Children can enjoy an hour's worth of design exploration in the Kids Marquee making their own mandalas.   We'll be facilitating children's workshops all day at the inauguration of the WA Visual Arts Expo.  Book your child in for any of the workshops.  See more about this event  at http://www.fabartevents.com.au/
